S & L Pledger Renovations

Shane Pledger began his career in 1983 as an apprentice stonemason and in 1993 established his own business. With over 15 years trading, the company has earned itself an enviable reputation locally with both clients and conservation officers as a traditional building company of the highest standard.

Whether it is one of their own developments or for a client S & L Pledger Renovations specialise in Period Property Restoration throughout Somerset, in particular Barn Conversions and listed buildings. The company is a member of The National House Building Council.(NHBC).

S & L Pledger’s aim is to provide a fully comprehensive service for substantial works to country homes and renovation projects.

In addition to the 8 members of staff that the company employs (3 stone masons, 2 carpenters, a tiler, a quantity surveyor and a secretary), their range of resources is further reinforced with the long-term relationships they have built up with local specialist sub-contractors and suppliers. This enables the company to undertake virtually any project. It ensures that the customer need only deal with one point of contact. This saves considerable time and money when sourcing materials and labour for the various stages of the project and aids to the smooth running of a well-managed site.

Unlike larger building firms, whereby typically the main principal secures the pitch and then hands over to middle management, all the building contracts at S & L Pledger are overseen by Shane Pledger himself. To add to this, he will only take on a limited number of projects at any one time. By doing this it ensures that he can attend site everyday, which results in delivering the project within budget, on time and to an exacting standard.

Most projects have been undertaken within the same area, which means he has established strong relationships with both the conservation officers and building inspectors from South Somerset District Council. The end result being he has a clear understanding of what is required. The inspectors in turn know what to expect from S & L Pledger, therefore avoiding any unnecessary delays or costly mistakes.
